To start the process, a $30 million debris removal program has been launched by San Diego County officials to remove the remains of more than 1,800 buildings that were destroyed or damaged. The California State Office of Emergency Services is funding $23 million of those debris removal costs, while the San Diego County Board of Supervisors is funding the other $7 million.
