Komatsu America Moves Artic Truck Production to Tennessee →

From Construction Equipment Guide... Komatsu America Corp. moved the production of its 30- to 40-ton (27- to 36-t) articulated truck from Mooka, Japan, to Chattanooga, TN, in January. Joining production of Komatsu’s mid-size excavator line at the Chattanooga facility are the HM300-1, HM350-1 and HM400-1 articulated trucks used in earthmoving, road construction and quarry applications. Farm-rite, Inc. based in Shiloh, NJ, recently sold the first JCB 718 articulated dump truck in the Mid-Atlantic Region to Advantage Rental & Sales, of Seaville, NJ. The unit will be immediately placed on a long-term rental to Action Supply, also of Seaville, NJ, according to Tom Tower, of Advantage Rental. The 718 will be mainly used to move processed concrete sand from Action’s dredging operation to Action’s concrete plant, according to Frank Carpino, vice president, of Action Supply. From Construction Equipment Guide... Scotty’s Contracting & Stone LLC is constructing a new landfill cell to expand capacity at one of nine landfills owned and operated by Rumpke Consolidated. This expansion, along with a planned phase 2 expansion will extend the life of the landfill another 70 years. The landfill currently accepts 1,500 to 1,600 tons of garbage per day. The $94.3-million project, funded entirely by the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, involves the total reconstruction of a 13-mi. (20.9 km) long section of the original turnpike built in 1940. From Construction Equipment Guide... Mud. Lots of it. The exposed dirt at the Nissan Manufacturing Plant in Canton, MS, was thoroughly soaked by intense rainfalls in May and June 2003. Tom Elmore, president of Eutaw Construction, looked out at the site before him and saw machines sitting idle. The site was completely underwater.
