From Construction Equipment Guide... A Kubota mini-excavator fell victim to a sinkhole on a construction site May 14. The incident occurred in a parking lot where crews were digging to repair a water main at the Shops at Riverside mall in Hackensack, N.J. According to officials, the sinkhole occurred because of the water main break, NECN reported. New Jersey resident and World War II veteran Bill Gunn donned a construction hat and vest at Diggerland in West Berlin, N.J., on April 19, as he and his friend, 92-year-old Bill Bueheller, got to work, CBS Philly reported. New Dig Safely Training Center to Provide Excavator Training to Local Residents →

Dig Safely New York Inc. held a groundbreaking ceremony April 19 for its new, $6.5 million, 21,432-sq.-ft. facility. The training center will serve as a resource to help excavators in New York learn how to dig while avoiding damaging underground utility lines, Syracuse.com reported.
