Aggregate Equipment Guide
When Hanson Custom Crushing Inc. (HCCI), of Forest Lake, Minn., was given the task of the crushing 32,000 tons (29,030 t) of roadway recycling material for Mathiowetz Construction, it turned to its local dealer Hayden-Murphy Equipment Company for a piece of equipment that could handle the job. The recycled material was to be crushed onsite in Mankato, Minn., to be used immediately in current Mathiowetz road projects.
Hayden-Murphy, located in Bloomington, Minn., selected a Kleemann mobile impact crusher to serve on site as a demonstration unit with the goal of exceeding all crusher performance expectations set by HCCI.
In the last week of April 2014, when “spring” arrived and the rain stopped, the components of a mobile crushing operation arrived in Mankato. Conveyors, a generator, excavator, dozer and a 2013 Kleemann MR 130 ZS EVO mobile impact crusher, were supplied to the site by Hayden-Murphy.
The MR 130 is similar in design to the MR 110. Due to its larger crusher width and more powerful drive, the overall output has once again been considerably increased. Feed capacities of 450 ton (408 t) per hour and more can be achieved with this plant. The key for this performance is the new material flow concept, which consistently ensures that there is no restriction to the flow of the material throughout the entire plant. In primary screening, an independent double-deck pre screen is fitted, with a final screening unit available as an option.
“I am very impressed with the performance of the Kleemann crusher,” said Mark Hanson, vice president of operations, HCCI, adding that he had the opportunity to meet the Kleeman folks at ConExpo earlier this year so he knew the quality to expect.
Hanson was so impressed with the Kleemann crusher, the demonstration unit resulted in a sale at the completion of this project in May, with the single shift operation lead by HCCI’s Scotty Heittola.
“Our local dealer, Hayden-Murphy, has done a great job of getting us a unit to demo, supporting us on the job site and allowing us to the opportunity to make a decision,” said Hanson.
All crushed product has been used on area road projects. The effort set forth by many road contractors to use recycled product in these projects has reduced the need of natural product, thus saving the resource and enhancing environment awareness.
HCCI had two men working on this project, in addition to two from Mathiowetz.
“We tried it, we liked it, we bought it. Now let’s crush!” said Hanson.
