Aggregate Equipment Guide
Superior Industries’s horizontal index conveyor (HIC) provides continuous material flow, reduced downtime and greater capacity in gold, copper and ore heap leach operations; or in linear, flat-top pile applications.
The horizontal index conveyor reduces or eliminates the need for costly haul trucks, loaders and dozers, which can compact piled material. When combined with portable jump conveyors, the horizontal index conveyor minimizes the frequent removal or adjustments of the jump conveyors along the material transfer line. Importantly, the flexibility and mobility of the horizontal index conveyor allows larger leach pad footprints, which leads to increased profitability, according to the manufacturer.
The horizontal index conveyor has a full-length receiving hopper that feeds into any radial stacking conveyor or can be mounted to Superior’s TeleStacker conveyor, a telescoping stacker which eliminates material segregation concerns. For greater heap leach site mobility, and as the HIC retracts behind the stacker, powered tracks on the horizontal index conveyor are designed to pull both the HIC and the stacker; and automation can be controlled by the HIC if desired.
Providing maximum flexibility, the horizontal index conveyor can be fed at any point along the length of the conveyor. Providing linear travel, the HIC is 110-ft. (33.5 m) in length with 95-ft. (29 m) of travel. The unit features onboard power, an operator platform and a wireless remote.
