Aggregate Equipment Guide
Raptor automated controls from FLSmidth Pekin LLC will improve cone crushing performance by ensuring the crusher operates at optimal efficiency, according to the manufacturer.
Available in five packages for all Raptor cone crusher models, including XL300, XL400, XL500, XL600, XL900, XL1100, XL1300 and XL2000, the Raptor automation systems are self-contained controllers that provide full-time monitoring and automated controls. The systems include basic, automated interlock, full and custom-designed automation packages, as well as an automated remote liner calibration package.
The Raptor basic automation system consists of simple interlocks, pushbuttons and indicators for monitoring the crusher’s performance and settings. The Raptor automated interlock automation system uses a simple programmable logic controller (PLC) to establish, calibrate and monitor crusher settings. With a one-button push start, the system then monitors lubrication and hydraulic pressures, temperature and vibration, with audio and visual indicator alarms.
The Raptor full automation system employs a combination of PLC controls with Windows-based Rockwell FactoryTalk View SE interactive software to remotely control the cone crusher. Along with the same basic controls, indicators and push start as the automated interlock automation system, the full automation system also provides data collection for trending, wear part replacement, diagnostics and troubleshooting.
The remote liner calibration system is an affordable option for producers who simply want to remotely manage their crusher’s CSS (closed-side setting) adjustment. It eliminates safety and downtime issues associated with manual “slugging” to establish desired CSS, and allows for frequent adjustments, which improves crusher performance and product quality, according to the manufacturer.
This option is available for Raptor Cones and other crusher models that are designed with a ring bowl adjustment.
