Aggregate Equipment Guide
Putzmeister America Inc.’s MX TB placing conveyor was specially designed for large, civil projects that require placement of large aggregate, near zero slump concrete, in mass quantities such as dams, hydroelectric powerhouses, coal power plants and nuclear plants.
“The MX TB placing conveyor is the final concrete placing tool in a much larger and complete solution we provide to our customers through our Special Applications Business [SAB] group,” said Bob Weiglein, Putzmeister America’s Telebelt division manager.
SAB is a partnership between Allentown Shotcrete Technology Inc., Esser Pipe Technology and Maxon Industries Incorporated. This partnership offers a complete systems approach that offers all products to all projects around the world to customers in the tunnel and mining, dams and power generation, transportation, and marine and offshore industries.
There are two different models that make up the MX TB placing conveyor line: the MX TB 130 and the MX TB 600.
“Both conveyors can place the larger aggregate concrete that concrete pumps simply cannot,” comments Weiglein. “The MX TB 130 conveys up to four-inch aggregate and the MX TB 600 conveys up to six-inch aggregate. Both placing conveyors handle zero to 12-inch concrete slump.”
The placing conveyors are fed by an Overland system where a Maxon portable surge hopper feeds concrete onto a large feeder conveyor that then conveys the concrete into the MX TB’s feeder belt and hopper.
“Both MX TB models feature the same smooth, surge-free conveying results our customers expect from our Telebelts,” said Weiglein. “The MX TB 130’s five-section telescopic placing conveyor offers a 130-foot horizontal reach and the MX TB 600’s four-section telescopic placing conveyor features a horizontal reach of up to 102 feet . Both offer a 360-degree hydraulic rotation.”
Additionally, the MX TB 130 has an 18-in. (45.7 cm) belt width and the MX TB 600 has a 24-in. (61 cm) belt width.
Powered by a diesel power pack with a 208-hp (155 kW) Deutz engine, the MX TB 130 offers up to 6 cu. yds. per minute (4.60 cu m) maximum output and the MX TB 600 offers up to 10 cu. yds. per minute (7.65 cu m) maximum output.
Both placing conveyors are equipped with a pedestal that attaches to a 4 ft. 6 in. (1.3 m) square lattice tower that is available in 12-ft. (3.7 m) and 18-foot (5.50 m) sections. The tower can be mounted using either the freestanding (capable of freestanding at a height of 80 ft. [24 m]) or ballasted base mounting configurations, similar to the placing booms.
The MX TB 130 and 600 do not detach from an actual Telebelt unit and are ordered separately.
